Kimbo Slice to Enter the Boxing World
Aug 27th
“I feel like a baby all over again. I’m thinking about this at night. I’m gonna be a problem in the heavyweight division. I’m going to be coming in with a bad demeanor. I want to see what it’s like to break some ribs, break a jaw with one punch. This is a career move. I love fighting. I like to knock people the [expletive] out. I love engaging. Maybe some people think I’m crazy.”

Two Fighters Who Should be Inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame
Aug 26th
The UFC just recently inducted UFC veteran Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell into the prestigious Hall of Fame alongside the likes of Royce Gracie, Dan Severn, Randy Couture, Ken Shamrock, Mark Coleman, Matt Hughes, and Charles Lewis. However, there are other well-deserving fighters who should be honored into the UFC HOF, and here are two such fighters.
Who?: Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva
UFC Record: 3-5
Why?:
“The Axe Murderer”, unlike Matt Hughes, will not go down in history for a legendary title reign in the UFC or for the names he’s beaten since his UFC debut. Wanderlei Silva is one of the most exciting fighters this sport has ever seen, and even in defeat he gains fans. Wanderlei’s nickname is a good representation of his fight style: super aggressive, and bound to get someone hurt. The great thing about Wanderlei Silva is, he doesn’t care who you are, he’ll rush in and go for the knockout, and he doesn’t care if he gets knocked out doing so. Silva was a superstar in PRIDE FC before coming to the UFC, and gained notable wins over Guy Mezger, Dan Henderson, Kazushi Sakuraba (3x), Quinton “Rampage Jackson, Ricardo Arona, Kazuyuki Fujita, and Ikuhisa Minowa.
Who?: Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira
UFC Record: 3-2
Why?:
Minotauro Nogueira is another PRIDE superstar turned UFC legend. He’s known for his outstanding Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and durability. Noguiera has proved time and time again that he has one of the best chins in Mixed Martial Arts history. In PRIDE “Minotauro” would be punished by his opponents early on just to be submitted by Big Nog later in the fight, and this happened often. While in PRIDE, the Brazilian racked up notable wins over Jeremy Horn, Gary Goodridge, Mark Coleman, Heath Herring (3x), Enson Inoue, Bob Sapp, Semmy Schilt, Dan Henderson, Ricco Rodriguez, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, Zuluzinho, Fabricio Werdum, and Josh Barnett. Yeah, he’s that good. After defeating Barnett, Nogueira entered the UFC where he defeated Heath Herring (whom he defeated twice before). Minotauro then went on to win the UFC Interim Heavyweight Title by submitting Tim Sylvia with a guillotine choke. The Heavyweight legend has had a few shortcomings since then, but has earned the respect of fans and fighters worldwide.
Overeem More Interested in K-1 Than Fight with Fedor
Aug 26th
Ariel Helwani: Have you decided when and where your next fight will be?
Alistair Overeem: Yes, I’m going to fight in the K-1 tournament, so my first fight will be October for the Final 16 in Korea. If I win the fight, I will advance to the Final 8 in Japan. That fight will be in December. Why isn’t your next fight going to be for Strikeforce?
I’ve stated many times that Strikeforce was my number one priority, but after Fedor lost to Werdum, I had no intention of fighting somebody other than Werdum. I came to the States to challenge the winner of the fight and that was Werdum, so no need to fight somebody else. Furthermore, I like K-1 very much and there are not many opportunities to stay fighting in K-1, so I want to fight if I still can. One of my goals is to be K-1 champion and this is my chance.
Fedor and his Management Announce They Want Alistair Overeem
Aug 25th
Fedor: “This is an important match for me and something that I personally want to happen. There have been conversations about putting this match-up together in the past and now is the time to begin making this bout possible.”
Evgeni Kogan: “As a global mixed martial arts company committed to driving the evolution of the sport and showcasing match-ups that the fans deserve to see, we want to make this bout a reality in 2010.”

Noons vs. Diaz Rematch Booked for Strikeforce: San Jose on October 9th
Aug 25th
Well, this story developed quickly. After a weekly newsletter was sent out to fans hinting at a rematch between Nick Diaz and K.J. Noons for Diaz’s welterweight belt, we now have word that the bout is official.
Strikeforce officials confirmed the fight with MMAmania.com this morning.
Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz will finally get the opportunity to avenge his most recent loss — to KJ Noons via technical knockout (cuts) way back in 2007 — when the long-awaited rematch goes down at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California on October 9.
The bout will be contested at 170-lbs instead of 155-lbs and will be for Diaz’s world title. The fight will mark his first defense since defeating Marius Žaromskis earlier this year to win the vacant strap.
‘King Mo’ Out for 9 Months after Knee Surgery
Aug 24th
Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will undergo knee surgery to replace both his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee, which could sideline the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion for nine months, said his manager Ryan Parsons.
“Mo wanted to take one more fight, but we decided that this injury should be attended to first,” said Parsons after Lawal was examined by his physician on Monday.

Fedor May Have Interim Fight in Japan or Russia
Aug 24th
“We plan to organize an interim fight for Fedor. We are considering two options: Japan and Russia. We have a lucrative offer from the Japanese partners, who are interested in Fedor fighting on the New Year’s Eve. This is the most interesting option for us. But we are also not excluding an option that Fedor Emelianenko will fight in Russia, sometime in December. We have to organize another fight for Fedor, as Fabricio Werdum is currently injured and no one knows when he will come back. Strikeforce have absolutely nothing against the rematch, that’s exactly why we are planning the last fight on Fedor’s contract to be against Werdum.”
Fedor’s manager Vadim Finkelstein explains that “The Last Emperor” may be headed to Japan or possibly Russia while Fabricio Werdum heals.
